Berry of London Piano
Post by cerysann25 »
Hello, was just wondering if anybody could help me.
I don't know anything about pianos, but I have a berry of London, upright piano that I am looking to sell. It is untuned a little scratched from moving it around, but the serial number inside reads 36074.
How would I go about finding how old it is/ how much it is worth?
Thank you.

Nobody can guess the value or condition of a piano they haven't examined and tuned, so your tuner is probably the best person to ask.

If the serial number is correct (as its unseen here, and there are other kinds of numbers inside pianos) - the suggested year would be around 1936. Not all piano tuners are 'valuers' - and some just tune & repair pianos and may not have retail experience, so its best to ask first.
Depending on its condition & internal mechanism design & condition of strings/ tone/ hammers/ etc.... if you ring a piano shop/ retailer - they may come out and make you a cash offer & remove it for you; however, have a look on Ebay - there are one or two Berry's on there, but cant comment on the price they are asking - and I suppose a 75 year old piano is quite old now - so dont expect very much.
