Eavestaff Pianette - age please?

Hello,

I'm new to the forum, and, as it happens, new to piano ownership. Just picked up an Eavestaff Pianette "Minipiano" (for free, result). It is pretty much in tune (to my ears, at least) and is marked "as played by Ingrid, Queen of Denmark". I've seen other Eavestaff owners on here whose piano bears the name of a couple of other princesses / royals, but this one is just Ingrid.

I found what I think may be a serial number inside the lid - 119131.

Is there a chance someone could give me a rough age of this piano?

119131 is, according to published lists, about 1936, but other sources put it around 1953. We receive a large number of enquiries about Eavestaff pianos, but no archives are available, and their numbers run in several separate sequences, most do not correspond to the published information, so dating is sometimes difficult. The original minipiano model can have major problems now, the tuning pins are often loose, and being quite different to the usual ones, they are difficult to replace. They are behind a little flap under the keyboard and very inconvenient to tune. The action is mounted inside the back of the piano, hence the term “back-action minipiano”.
