Grand piano size advice for musical event.
Hi piano tuners members,
I'm new here and with a fairly straightforward question.
Next week some of my compositions for piano will be played at a vernissage in Warsaw and I was wondering if you could help me out with which grand piano I should rent.
I've already set my mind on the Wendl & Lung brand.
There's two models I can get: the 178 and the 218 (1.78 meters and 2.18 meters).
The room size will be 282 square meters (which equals 3040 square feet according to an internet converter).
Somebody warned me about the risks of getting a to big grand piano as the sound might be too overpowering (and playing with the lid closed defeats the purpose) but I guess 282 square meters is big enough for a 218 Wendl Lung, isn't it?
I've attached a (low res ipad) picture of the room (unfortunately as you can see, the floor isn't carpeted.
Waiting for your expert opinions and thanks in advance!

Dont forget that when the audience are there - they themselves will absorb alot of the sound i.e. clothing/ chairs etc.... alot different to an empty hall.
Other pianos to consider - Kawai RX7 or the ultimate.. Steinway D
the choice is yours.
Also do some sound checks, with lid open, lid shut, or lid removed.
Pianist should adapt anyway - maybe try with or without microphones?
If too loud, try some draped material on walls. .... but depends on music being played.
Classical? .... anything 7ft or longer I think
Hope that helps
