Herrburger Brooks 5 octave piano
Hi,
I have recently acquired a 5 octave piano. The action is made by Herrburger Brooks and the number inside is 15975. It has number 29 on the bottom of the frame as well. On examination it has no date marks underneath the keys or the frame and no indication of the maker.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to when it was built or a possible maker, or any other information that might be relevant to it.
Thank you.

The action name only tells us that it was made after 1919, but apart from that, we have nothing to work with. Herrburger Brooks were the principal London action makers, and lots of firms made 5-octave pianos. The serial number is no help without a maker's name.
Can you post photos here, or email them to me?
In the twenties and thirties, there were frame marks such 290 and 292, but I have no record of 29.

If you can take the first key out, you might find either a pencil note on the key itself with the date, or perhaps a paper label under the key on the wooden keyframe. Your tuner may be able to tell you more when you have it tuned.
I play for my own amazement...
