Kirkman Baby Grand No 56277
Post by JHBBookkeeping »
Is there a listing of dates made that I could view? My friend does not play and though the action including dampers seem in good condition - it is very out of tune - and the case bleached by the sun. Any ideas of date it was made?
Thanks for any help - John

The number suggests that your piano was made in 1932, subject to the usual problems associated with relying purely on numbers for dating pianos. There are often several numbers inside a piano, and without photos, it is difficult to know if 1932 is likely. The worry is that if the polish is bleached by the sun, parts of the wood may have been raised to a temperature where the resin evaporates, causing serious, permanent, irreparable damage to the structure of the piano.
