CE Little & Sons 1919 upright piano

Post by melaneethys »

I was given this piano by my grandmother-in-law and turns out after a professional came to tune it, the piano wasn't/isn't tune-able. "Has a warped pin block/structural issues" is what he said, told me to post on a forum for advice on if I should sell on craigslist or just have it removed. If I were to sell it does this paino even have a value? is there anyway to learn this information as I honestly know nothing about pianos. Is it worth the value for me to maybe fix it myself?

When a piano reaches the point where it will not hold in tune, it is often the end of the line. It can cost over a thousand pounds to fix the problem, which still leaves you with a piano not worth a thousand. Having said that, tuners vary in their cut-off point, just as some owners will be more discerning than others about the state or stability of tuning. Some tuners who are interested in preserving old pianos might find a solution. If you were near Great Yarmouth, I would have a look at it, but it may be worth paying for a second opinion.

I find myself distracted by the question - how did you know it was a 1919 piano?
