Eeeeeeek!
Hello everyone - I'm back
Hope we're all practising hard and keeping up with the sight reading (Dave) + of course sticking to our New Years Resolutions
I've not been on for a while. Been VERY busy practising, for my Grade 2 exam that I'll be sitting in session A!
Just wondered if anyone had played at a high achievers concert organised by ABRSM? I've been invited (and I accepted) to play at one of these concerts in March and I just wondered what to expect
I'm looking forward to playing - just a bit worried I might be surrounded by children doing Grade 8 pieces and there's me bashing out one of my Grade 1 pieces.

Of COURSE it'll be full of clever kids, these things always are. What you have to remember is that in your own little way, YOU are a clever kid! And you are even cleverer because you didn't have a pushy parent forcing you to practise/driving you to and from lessons, and you managed to carry on everyday life for yourself AT THE SAME TIME. Genius boy - get used to it.
I play for my own amazement...

Hello Dave, dave brum wrote:Hello Q and how are you, my friend?
No sight reading for me, in fact here everything is a mess. My father in law passed away on Monday afternoon and my wife has been unable to stop crying, so I've been trying to do what I said I'd do at that register office on my wedding day. on back burner for now.
Yea am ok thanks - sorry to hear about your father in law. Thinking of you all.
can wait til you're feeling upto it.

Just hope nerves don't get the better of me - least in the exams you only play in front of one stranger - a whole hall full of strangers sounds scary lol. I'll do it tho, can't have that snotty nosed 6 year old putting me to shame

Do you wear glasses for long range viewing? If so, take 'em off; you won't see the audience. What the eye don't see...
