Gildemeester & Kroeger
I have an old upright piano made by Gildemeester & Kroeger. It says on the soundboard, "New York Patented May 27, 1884, October 19, 1886" It has a serial number of 6687. It's way out of tune and has a hammer broken and the finish is all messed up but it's still playable. Is this worth anything?

Probably not worth much, - read the blue box above - can't give valuations.
If the piano is seriously out of tune, then wrest plank may be cracked - and maybe not such a good time to advertise underfloor heating....

I'm sorry, this is not a place for free advertising, and no unauthorised links are permitted on this site. As for the piano, Victorian pianos have very little value here in Britain, I can't say about anywhere else.

OT / Re: Gildemeester & Kroeger
An addition just related to the name. With the (nearly) same name a development is said as being on the way - aim: to produce a giant concert grand. Developer once was Mr Klavins from Bonn, Germany who in 1989 installed an upright at one wall in his piano shop - length of the piano is 370cm i.e. 12+ ft. You enter a metal staircase and on the emporium above you can play this big upright piano from "2nd floor".
Derived from the same "sound engine" of this upright now a grand of unusual shape is in preparation. It will have a length of 408 cm, i.e. 100cm plus compared with the Fazioli 308 concert grand. In some perspectives it looks like a sailing ship as the lid (made of glass probably) can be lifted hydraulically by aluminium cylinders and project the sound into the room in nearly any direction. There must have been delays and delays regd. the completion. On the fallboard is written "Gildemeister & Kroeger".
I don't know when this piano will be built and presented to the market. I once read a date in 2012.
