Bicha pianos...

...what are they? I was looking up the number of a Broadwood grand (10247) today and their numbers are, as you know, a nightmare as you have to decise on which model you have (I plumped for 1870s in the end). Anyways up, I kept seeing 'Bicha grands' mentioned and realised I haven't the foggiest what they are. Any ideas, Bill?

It's one of those many names that turn up from time to time, that aren't provided with a definition. No doubt there was one at the time, but we don't have access to it. Suggestions that they were bichord grands (two strings per note) don't seem to work in practise. The number could be 1824 or 1885, you would have to get Broadwoods to check their archives.
