Wellington Vertical age??

Post by MonicaGonzalez »

Hello, I have a vertical Wellington piano from the Aeolian company. The serial number found on the back is 146308...Looking at a post from a few years ago, I see that some piano's with 155000 as their number were from around 1910. Is mine really older than that? I'd truly appreciate any form of help. It's been in my house for the past ten years, and I'd really love to know more about it.

We don't see them this side of the ocean, but I doubt that Wellington pianos were made by Aeolian, I understood they were made by Cable. Is it perhaps a player piano with the pianola action made by Aeolian? The number suggests exactly 1910.

You guessed right! The serial number suggests around 1910. The serial number you mention #155000 starts from 1911. Is it a "player piano" ? (with bellows, reels & plays on its own?)

Okay, after looking at it some more, I've determined that this is a console piano. It's definitely not a player piano.

On the front of the piano, where the keys are, it has "Wellington" printed in gold.

Underneath the lid, there is a sticker that says "Another production of the Aeolian company, America's greatest piano value"

It has a fancy golden mark near the strings, and a small plaque that says It's made in America by American craftsmen.

Thank you for your help! I appreciate it SO much! I'm not sure what this information can do to help, but it's all I have.

Our comments must have "crossed in the post" - this sometimes happens (if you look at the times we sent them, they are within 7 mins of each other) - you need sleep aswell as me!!
