John Brinsmead & Sons #22366

Post by debbies7 »

Hello, I have this John Brinsmead and sons piano. It has beautiful art / carved work - almost a Celtic design all over it.. simply beautiful even in it's OK condition. The number 22366 is stamped on the inside, also there is a Decal that says " Patent Check Action". There is also a metal tag that says W.A Bexant , Leamington Spa. Please advise me, should I sell this or possibly restore it. All the keys are in excellent shape. Can you tell me what year this was made?

Thanks
Debra

The number suggests that the piano was made around 1876, but without photos and more information, I can't say if this is right. Bexant would be the retailer, are you sure about the spelling? Impressive carvings and decorative work were commonplace then. Nobody can tell you the value or condition of a piano without tuning it, but although I am fascinated by Victorian pianos, they rarely fetch as much as ninety pounds in Britain, unless they have been professionally restored, indeed many achieve less that twenty pounds.
