Churchill & Son Ltd. pianos

Post by kinou13 »

Hello, i would like to get any information about Churchill and Son pianos from Bristol and if it is worthy in your opinion to make any reparations. I live in France and just get this piano from an old aunt, I asked for a professional to have a look to make it sound properly but i was answered that this piano was too old, that the cost to repair it was about 10000 € and that it was not worthy to make such reparation as it was not a good and famous trade mark. So could you please let me know anything about Churchill piano makers, I don't ask for any evaluation (as it is a souvenir) but I just want to know if it makes sense to have it repaired or maybe i should just keep it in my living room as a decoration? With thanks for your help and sorry for my bad english.

Re: fame of churchill and son ltd pianos

Churchill and Son do not appear in my files until after 1911, and I believe they were retailers, not makers, so they would have simply bought in pianos from wholesalers, and put their name on them, as many others did. I don't think they were "Ltd." until the thirties. It is impossible for me to say what this particular piano is like. Your English is better than a lot of English people's!
