Broken Piano?

Post by c0d3m0nk3y »

Hello all

I've owned a second hand Hudfeld piano for just over a year now. I have only had it tuned once, about 12 months ago, but I've had a problem with it for quite some time! When I play a key it is usually fine, but on many of them if I press down hard the hammer touches the string and mutes it. This has an aweful effect if I am trying to play forte, as it cuts off half the notes!

Is there a way to adjust all of the hammers so they are a little away from the strings, or somthing else maybe?

This fault is easily cured and indeed may have been present from new.It is either set-off,depth of touch or even checking problems. Any good tech should fix it on the spot if it is an upright
However,I would like to know why it has materialised as there may be an underlyng problem
Our mission in life is to tune customers--not pianos.

Any fool can make a piano-- it needs a tuner to put the music in it
