August Forster

Post by saints »

Hello everyone,my first post.
Have played the piano from a young age but stopped playing in my late teens. Now mid forties,a neighbour of mine wants to sell her August Forster Piano and after playing it has recindled my passion for the instrument. How much is it worth ?
Printed on the front is "August Forster Georgewalde CSR" serial number 52564 and has a cloth keyboard cover which has got "Ferdinand Schlogl" printed on it.The wood is very dark mahogony, condition is average and it sounds very good.
What is the approximate value ?
Is it a good piano ?
Hope someone can help.

This is a history site, nobody anywhere is going to be able to tell you the value without on-the-spot inspection by a tuner. The number suggests that is as made in 1926, and Forster is a fairly good make, but not a top name. Any piano 84 years old could have major problems.
