Kawai K3 OR Kawai US7X? (Same Price)

Post by derkderk76 »

Hi. I'm needing some urgent advice on which piano to buy tommorow. Basically, I've copied this from some other forum as they don't seem to be replying.

The two pianos that I do like, and have to choose between are the Kawai K3 and Kawai US7X.

They are both going for the same price.

Kawai K3

-Brand New
-Milennium 3 Action
-Feels a bit better than the other

Kawai US7X

-17 Years Old (However, it has very little signs of use)
-Milennium 2 Action
-Sounds a bit better than the other

Neither really stands out from the other so I'm having a bit of a problem choosing. As a general question, does a new pianos touch and sound change after it starts getting a little older (besides tunning)?

Any information on any of the two pianos would be greatly appreciated!

New you get the 5 year Graa the other has been bedded in but what sort of Garr will you get on that one I would get a tuner to look at the second-hand one

All pianos change in tonal characteristics after a few months playing. but not all spot the change. After a year of moderate playing the touch is also different but again most of the ones who play don't spot it as it is gradual.

Given that you state these are the same price, if these were the only two pianos available anywhere, I'd go for the new K3, and ensure that it had been well prepared, came with two in-house tunings and a bench. And of course as Barry stated you'd be covered by the warranty. I understand that in recent years Kawai have much improved their models, quality control etc.

However, I'm a little concerned that you plan to buy "tomorrow". A piano's an important purchase and really not to be rushed into - one reads of so many stories of buyers remorse - those folks who think it's easy to buy their perfect piano. It ain't so!
However if you've been 'studying' pianos for months and trying many different models and sizes, and finally come down to the short list of two Kawais - that's fine. Good luck.
I was playing the piano in a zoo, when the elephant burst into tears. I said, "Don't you recognize the tune?" He replied, "No, I recognize the ivories!"

When you say they are the same price, what is it? ( I'm a dealer, by the way)
Be aware there are deals out here as Kawai have had 2 only price rises this year( unlike Yamah's 4!)
Tell us where you are and invite offers from Kawai dealers. Some of us have K3s at the pre-April prices.
depending on finish etc.
All Kawai dealers ' pianos are carefully prepared and voiced before delivery. Ask Kawai where your nearest accredited dealer is.
Our mission in life is to tune customers--not pianos.

Any fool can make a piano-- it needs a tuner to put the music in it

Kawai pianos have 5 years parts & labour ( onsite) and a further 5 years parts if you fill in the warranty card.
Try and buy local, you will benfit in the end.
