Collard & Collard

Post by annac100 »

I have just purchased a piano, please can you advise of the history of it? The Piano is an upright piano and says Collard and Collard London then underneath that it says Canterbury's 56 & 57 (the rest I can hardly make out as plate inside is slightly damage but it starts with Wyl then something and I think the remainder is Shrewbury and the lid of the piano keys there are two numbers one of which is 740 and the other is SR JG 361.

I would appreciate it if you could advise of the history and year of the piano.

Thanks

It may help you if you read through my comments on Collard numbers at
http://www.uk-piano.org/piano-gen/piano ... mbers.html

The serial number would be much longer, and does not guarantee that we can date it, but have a look at
http://www.uk-piano.org/piano-gen/datem ... ianos.html

I will see if I can find any reference to Canterbury's.
