Anyone been to any lately? Or is thinking of going to any. I have been to two of the Proms concerts this year, I have never been to the Proms before so it was really cool, I will definitely be going again next year!
I went to Prom 32 the ‘piano day’ one, it was really cool, saw the Labeque sisters play Mozart concerto for 2 pianos K365, and I really enjoyed Saint-Saens Carnival of the animals.
Last Monday I went to Cadogan hall to hear some Chopin mazurkas, Mendelssohn’s Songs without words and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. I wasn’t so sure about having to hear the Stravinsky piece but I did enjoy it. I didn’t like it at first as I heard it on a documentary with Ashkenazy and Barenboim playing it, but it’s really cool, but is very hard core piano, some people cound handle it an walked out of the preformance.
Then I went to one near me yesterday, a really nice concert of piano duets.
I have all really booked tickets to see Maurizio Pollini and Kristian Zimmerman play Chopin next year at the Southbank Centre as its Chopin’s 200th birthday, can’t wait for that! I think I’m going to become a bit of a pianist twitcher!
