Ronisch

Post by carlo_magnani »

Good morning!
I am a new account of the forum.

I would like to have some informations about the Ronisch pianos brand and about the quality of its products.
Is there anyone of you here who have a Ronisch piano?
I need some information on where can I find the serial numbers inside a Ronisch grand piano to find the name of the model (if it's possible), the year of manufacture, and possibly some more information.

Thank you very much

Models are not always defined by numbers. There isn't a simple way to define the quality of a piano, Ronisch made some very good instruments, but many are now suffering from old age. Remove the music desk and look around inside for the number, it may be to the right of the strngs of the top note. Have a look at my Numbers page at www.pianogen.org

The compnay still exists, and has archives.

Thank you for the answer.
What I was interested to know was if the Ronisch pianos of the beginning of the twentieth century were good instruments (the sound for example), not considering the passage of time that could have damaged them.
Moreover, it might be convenient to restore a Ronisch grand piano [I can't hear the sound because it can't play at the moment] of the beginning of the twentieth century?

Today Ronisch pianos are good?
Where could I find some more information about the brand?

Thank you

Carlo Magnani

P.S. sorry for my English, I am Italian and I don't speak so well!

The question of what is "good" is not a simple one, it involves personal taste. They were well made. There is a Ronisch website but I do not have the link handy. Try good old Google! It may have German accents, or be spelt "Roenisch". As for whether it is suitable for restoration, you would have to ask your local tuner or technician.

Ok, thank you

Could I try to post some photos of the piano to have some opinions?

It's probably easier to email them to me, but although they are always interesting, photos won't tell us much from here.

"Ronisch was also the preferred piano of world renowned composer Rachmaninoff, until his emigration in 1918."

I found this phrase with google for a page which I can't open.

Is it possibile??

I found also that several composers, like Tchaikovsky or Grieg or Strauss are related to the mark Ronisch.

Do you know anything about it?
