There are four levels of responsibility on the forum:

Administrators - have complete control over the forum, posts and members.
Global Moderators - have control over every forum on the board.
Moderators - have control over certain forums to which they are assigned.
Usergroup Leaders - are responsible for a small group within the board.

So far, we currently have
one Administrator
one Global Moderator
four Moderators
two Usergroup Leaders (Vernon in "Retailers & Tuners Forum" as well as me in "Moderators' Forum")

You can find out more about their roles on the FAQ section of the forum.

How about:

The proletarian masses - have no control over anything whatsoever and couldn't even bribe their Member of Parliament!!!

But the proletarian masses can request to be Moderators or seek to become members of the gov

Barrie,

Oh? You're talking about yourself?

I approached quite a few people on the forum who hadn't been online for a while to draw their attention to the "adverts" for moderators. We wanted this sorted out for the beginning of July when the holiday making starts and not dragging on for weeks. It's not something we need to ponder over - either a "Yes, I will" or "No, not for me" response is all that's needed - so that we can focus on the forum.

It is an important role and you do have to be committed to moderate. However, on the point about "knowledge", the Piano Lounge is non-topic based. The roles were Moderators and were to "assist with the moderating" or various forums. I still moderate on ALL forums and the moderator role was to assist the Global Moderator role on the forum.

There are forums such as Piano History, Digital Pianos and Teaching Pianos which are topic sensitive and Barrie and I did ask for some experience on one forum - however, as the terms and conditions state, this is a community and not a citizens' advice bureau where everything said here is the absolute and final word. It's a venue to share thoughts, ideas, questions, answers and as such, responses can be biased or poorly expressed.
