Stultz & Bauer Piano, New York Esd. 1880

Post by rafree »

I have a Stultz & Bauer New York piano number 3770, and upright grand measuring length-65", width-25" including keys, and height-58". How old do you think this is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

This is NOT a player piano but an upright grand, 88 keys, three pedals below.

What type of rolls does it take (88 note / 65 note / other)?

There are specialist forums just for player pianos (look for them on Google) where you may get more information specific to them.

The published dates of Stultz & Bauer's serial numbers are a bit vague, but suggest that perhaps the piano was made around 1886. However, it is unwise to rely purely on numbers for dating, as you can read on my Numbers page at http://www.pianogen.org

We don't see them this side of the ocean.
