Crane & Sons Ltd. piano

Post by Emma Lindsay »

Hi, I have a Crane & Sons Ltd Liverpool and London Piano. The number inside is C&S 150296 8018.

I have no idea of any history of the piano as it was bought off ebay! (Yes, I know, not the best way to get a piano.) I have had it tuned today and he thinks it's from around the 1920's.

Would anyone be able to give me any advice as where to look for any history on the piano please?

Thank you

The number suggests that it was sold around 1932, but nobody anywhere can trace the life history of every individual piano, and when I asked them years ago, Cranes were unable to offer any archive information. The actual maker is unknown, they used several, but have a look at my Datemarks page at www.pianogen.org
