Kaim & Sohn

Post by aimijenkns »

Hi all. I have just been given an upright piano for my children to practice on. It has Caim and Sohn maker's mark on it. I cant find info on this maker anywhere. Any ideas where to look? Or has anyone heard of them? Thank you, Aimi.

Try Kaim & Sohn.

The opinion above is purely that of PianoGuy and is simply the opinion of one person ....

If you're buying a piano, try as many as you can and buy the one you like, not a similar one of the same type.

Kaim & Sohn

Post by Bill Kibby »

KAIM & GUNTHER, were established at Kircheim in 1819. By 1883, they were two separate firms - Kaim & Sohn, and Gunther. A ridiculous website offers me the opportunity to press buttons to select either Kaim & Gunther grands or uprights, but in each case, the effect is the same - the website has NO information on the item it lists! No dates of their serial numbers are available, but if you know how to remove the action safely (the working parts of the notes) it may be marked with the action makers' name and number, and I may be able to date this. Otherwise, ask your tuner to have a look.
