Waddington / Beaumont

The Waddington firm was established in York, Yorkshire, 1838, and I can supply a printed booklet for five pounds via the PianoGen website. They became a limited company around the 1914-18 war. I'll see what I can find on the Beaumont company.

I have almost come to accept the amazing coincidences that so often occur in these matters, and Gill Green has very kindly sent me a copy of a receipt from R.Crease, Liverpool, for Beaumont & Co., London piano #19858 & 1754. Upright iron grand, Full trichord, Tape check action, etc. &38.17.

My husband and I just bought a great piano and would like to know as much as possible about it. There is a metal plaque inside the top that reads "Waddington & Sons, Ltd." and an address in London. It also has gold lettering on the keyboard cover that reads "Beaumont Company". It had numbers inside the top. Please let me know if you can give us further information concerning this piano. I have just discovered that a great uncle of mine had a piano dealership in London. His name was Alexander Beaumont and it would have been about the turn of the 20 century ie possibly 1890 to when he died in 1937. I would be interested to know if you have found out anymore about your piano?

Have you checked your local newspaper archives for any advertisements he may have placed. Check every issue in December in case he ran Christmas promotions or maybe January sales.
