I listened to all three tunes briefly.

It sounds like music that has developed from improvisation - is that how they came about?

Hey, thank you for sharing my music...not sure I can cope with it being dissected too much though! I would say you're spot on with the 50% improvisation and 50% structured melody. I usually write when I have something bothering me, so it's based on emotional highs and lows, but more personal than to do with work - I'm a student nurse, halfway through my training, so I have another 18 months to go... and consequently don't have enough time to write at the moment, although I'm the worlds biggest procrastinator, so it's times like now when I have an essay to write that I feel most creative, aargh! Very frustrating...

As I said to Dave in an email, I hadn't been on Myspace for ages and was thinking of taking my music off there, as I'm not happy with my playing and doubted anyone was listening, so it was lovely to hear from Dave and know that there was at least one person who was enjoying my music :D

I like to do that too. I have created some pieces using a similar approach. Personally, I like to break away from the restrictions of written music from time to time and explore that musical creativity you were talking about in your previous post. Downside is trying to get it onto things like Myspace - I'm having difficulty getting software on my laptop that is compatible with my stage piano.

It might be nice to create a space on the forum for people to post links to their performances. You couldn't post them onto the site without overloading it but links, similar to how you upload pictures, could be a good idea!

Creating a space for people to post links to their performances is a great idea, I would be really interested to listen to other people's compositions.

When I have more time I would like to re-record my work on myspace and a few other pieces, but I'm not sure whether to record acoustic or digital piano? Does anyone have an opinion on this? Do you think acoustic sounds superior to digital, or are digital recordings just as good? Unfortunately my music tech skills are limited so I have to drag a friend in to help me, and want to decide whether to go down the digital or acoustic route first!

I have a Myspace account that I'm going to shut down. I will re-register with a music Myspace account that will allow me to upload my own material.

Well it's all your fault Dave, now I'm itching to write music instead of getting on with my essay! But improvising and composing is making me happy and it's such a nice feeling to be creative again :)
