Dale Forty
Hi, We recently got a Dale Forty highly strung upright piano. The only number we (well, the piano tuner) can find was stamped in the wood on the inside (took bottom panel off to find it) is 5316. Our tuner reckons its age is about 1890 because of the ivory keys, style of the feet and the script. Is there a way of dating it more accurately using the stamped number?
Thanks,
Billy
Thanks,
Billy

I'm sorry to hear that your piano is highly strung, I hope it feels better soon! Their pianos were made by several factories, and it is not possible to date the piano by its number, unless there is a longer one inside the top. Have a look at the Datemarks page at www.PianoGen.org
