Darwen Pianos
Post by susandarwen »
According to the chronological History of the Piano, Darwen Pianos was formed in 1883. I am researching my family history and my great-uncle's death certificate shows he was a pianoforte manufacturer's manager. His name was Robert Waring (1871-1900) and he lived in Duckworth St., Darwen. I am wondering if he worked for Darwen Pianos. Does anyone have information regarding Darwen Pianos?

Sadly, they do not appear under that name in any of our directory lists, not even those specifically for the Darwen area! Still, I did have a good laugh at somebody's school project on a web page which mentioned their date of establishement as if it was one of the very few facts that were considered relevant to the history of pianos!

I'm surprised by your reply as Darwen Pianos are listed at

A History of the Piano, 1157-2007 by Barrie Heaton.
I didn't think it was HIS school homework!

Perhaps Barrie will have some information to share, this is not my website. Keep in touch with me by email, in case anything turns up in the future.
