The Willard Co. Chicago

Post by casajones »

I have an old 55 inch upright that says The Willard Co. Chicago inside. I can't seem to find out anything about it anywhere. The serial # inside says 64888. Can you tell me anything about the age, or about this company?
Thank you for your help.

The number suggests 1904, but being based in the UK, I have never seen a Willard piano.

Thank you so much for you quick response. Do you have any idea of who I might try and contact in the U.S. or a web site that might be helpful. So far of all the sights I've been on, yours has been the most helpful. Thank you again.

I have a question about a Willard Co. piano as well. Since you were able to date his I was hoping you could date mine as well. The Serial Number is 35811. It is an upright piano.

The number suggests 1901, but most pianos have several numbers inside.

If the site that Barrie suggested does not get you the info required, you should try on the PianoWorld forum. As it's an American site there is a good chance that someone will have knowledge of The Willard Co. Chicago.
This is the link you need:-

I was playing the piano in a zoo, when the elephant burst into tears. I said, "Don't you recognize the tune?" He replied, "No, I recognize the ivories!"

It's definitely 35811, here's the number and from the look of the piano that date sounds about right from what I've seen of other pianos online.
