R Gors and Kalliman

Post by nleric »

Hi,
I am a beginner and in my search for my first piano I have been offered a piano by R Gors and Kalliman , the owner is emigrating and is offering it to me for free, it is in perfect condition but needs tuning, can someone tell me about these piano's? are they good/bad? how much should tuning cost? any information greatly appreciated, I have little or no knowledge at the moment.
Regards,
Noel Lackey.

Excellent pianos - when they were made. All depends on how it's been treated during its - probably long - life. There is no substitute for finding a good local independent tuner to give it the once over for you. Even if the piano is free, moving it will cost you.
Tuning depends on where you are; independent tuners generally charge less than shops as they don't have the iniquitous overheads that shops do. There's a thread on tuning charges on here somewhere...have a rummage.
