Gebruder Knake Upright Piano

Post by OM »

My Gebruder Knake (Munster) piano lies in India. I have no specific details or serial numbers and the like with me here in Australia.

Three questions:

Where on the piano should I be looking for serial numbers and other details ?

Could I have a time window from when (and upto when) Gebruder Knake pianos were made and sold and is it correct to assume that all pianos made by this company were in the late 1800s ?

Does age increase the value of a piano ?

Thanks

Knake was established in 1808, and still going in 1928, but there is little point in looking for numbers, no dates of their numbers are available. If you know how to remove the action safely (the working parts of the notes) it may be marked with the action makers' name and number, and we may be able to date this.
