Alfred Knight piano

Post by Nancy Kay »

I bought an Alfred Knight grand upright piano around 18 years ago with its bench.
Unfortunately, I did not ask the vendor re. its age.
I found a few numbers inside the body - all, on the right side:
- top metallic part: 54338
- bottom, carved into the wood: 53089
- bottom, "FM K10 HD R2" embossed on the brass upright part, along a "harp shaped figure".

The body is walnut.
The plaque reads: MADE IN ENGLAND - This instrument has been specially constructed to withstand severe extremes of heat, dryness and humidity and central heating in any part of the world"

Does anyone know how old this piano could be?
And its approximate value (if any)?

The number suggests 1973, but have a look at the Datemarks page at www.PianGen.org
