London International Music Show
General discussion about piano makes, problems with pianos, or just seeking advice.

London International Music Show
I hear through the grapevine that the LIMS has been deserted by piano people. Apparently the once packed Piano Hall now has ZERO exhibitors!
Anyone got any ideas why this might be? Too expensive? Too Rock n Roll? Bad management? A mixture of all 3?
It seems a pity that there is no representation (Kemble are just showing a silent piano in a different hall). Perhaps everyone is looking forward to the 'piano only show' at Lords later this year, but all the same, pianos are a part (albeit a rarefied part) of the music industry and deserve to be there.
It is an all new show taking over from the much maligned British Music Fair, it seems no one wants to give it a chance...

Frankfurt was no better the internet has made much simpler for dealers and the UK only has Kemble pos Broadwoods in the future. The big one this year was the far east one
The ABPT was going to put on a stand but we are haveing a look this year to see if it is worth it a small stand is about £600

The piano show at Lords will be where the main players will show. Mostly costs but most piano shops are pianos only and not interested in things which you have to blow into or plug in. Frankfurt is a great place to look for retailers but very big.
