Sequencing software

I was thinking of incorporating more ICT content into my music classes but am trying to find a good sequencing software than can be connected up to a keyboard in order to layer and copy simple ostinato patterns.

Any ideas?

Hi Mark,

Have you tried Cakewalk? Although I haven't used it for a few years, it's got some good features, such as scrolling staff as it's playing, and ability to mute individual channels to show how each voice contributes to the overall music.

Hey Grenache!

Thanks for that info - I haven't heard of this software. I had been looking through a music catalogue for school requisitions and need to decide what I want. Something like Cubase is too technical for upper Key Stage 2 age group.

Will look for this online and see if there is a demo or some screenshots!

Hi Mark,

I used version 9, which is quite old now (1999), and no longer available:

I'm not sure which product is the current equivalent:

I was originally recommended it by my local music store (selling keyboards, drums, PA, disco gear, etc.). The guy there seems enthused about it as he used it himself to multi-track his own recordings.
