Erard upright 3846

Can anyone help? My Erard upright piano No 3846 that I inherited from my Grandfather cannot stay with me. I want to list it as best I can and hope to find it a good home. It is a beautiful piece. I am unsure of the date but it must be 200 yrs old? (judging from some of the purchase info I have) Can anyone help me with related info or suggest someone or somewhere that may be interested in this lovely object. many thanks Paula

Firstly, we need to know the complete, exact wording on the piano, and does it mention London? If so, this may be 1855, rather than 1807! See my comments about Victorian pianos at www.PianoGen.org

I don't buy pianos, but I sometimes rescue antique pianos which are at risk of being destroyed.

The suggestion that this is two hundred years old is probably based on the published information about dates of their numbers: This information is not reliable, and refers to their Paris pianos anyway. I was the first to publish dates of Erard's London piano numbers.

To Bill, many thanks so far, I will check inside the piano, it does say inside the lid about the Great Exhibition, Council Medal. If I may get back to you once I have had a good look in daylight? many thanks paula

I look forward to learning a bit more about it, the Great Exhibition was in 1851, so 1855 is looking likely. Any chance you could email me photos?
