Boisselot upright

Post by Octavian »

Hi!

I have this piano around since I was a kid, which is about 20 years ago. It was a gift from a relative, and served more as a furniture since it has a wood frame and gets out of tune easily. It's quite old.
I suppose it is made before 1890, but I want to know the exact year.

Maybe someone could help me

I have no record of Boisselot's numbers ever being published, and like so many makers, we can only estimate from clues we find inside the piano. Have a look at the Datemarks page at www.PianoGen.org

Any chance you could email photos to me? If the action was made by someone like Schwander, we may be able to date it by its own number. What is the complete, exact wording on the piano?

Thank you for the answer!

I posted 3 photos here:

Unfortunetly I couldn't get the bottom door open so for the moment I have no more than the obvious stuff.
Also, I never tryed to get the keys out of a piano (though I've seen how it's done...seems quite easily), so I don't know if there are any date markings on the keys.

Eventually, in the next few days, I will open the bottom door and see if I cand find anything in there.

The number might suggest late 1840s, but it seems wrong, and no proper archives survive, so nobody can tell you very much. Have a look at the Datemarks page at www.PianoGen.org
