Dampers Uprights Steinbach Berlin
This old piano is fine except that some dampers no longer dampen their srings. Can one adjust the damper's action or does one need to replace the worn felt faces on them?

It would be more likely to be the springs which force the dampers onto the strings have either broken or become weak; damper heads don't really wear out very often. They do drop off, sometimes, though - check inside the bottom of the piano, because one missing damper head will make a lot of the others sing!
If it's an overdamper action, then look for missing damper heads as before. Overdampers don't damp as well as underdampers anyway.
If all the damper heads are there, call in a tech to sort it out for you.

Make sure that they're not just misaligned with their strings...I'd hate to think of you having the job of replacing damper springs when they might not need it! You could ask a tuner's opinion before you wade in - if you do decide to do the job, it won't affect the tuning.
understood Gill thanks for the advice. I have looked at the set up the dampers are in line they just dont quite bounce back enough to blanlk the strings. I am pretty sure that the prob is the damper springs, & in replacing them I won't damage the instrument & will learn some thing more about fixing pianos. Edmund
