I recently acquired a Knight upright with 3 pedals. The The 3rd is a practice pedal and moves to the left to lock. The mechanism for this seems tobe broken in that the vertical lever doesnt ttach to anything but ends in a spring clip around the end fixing post and i wonder if anyone can shed light on this. Its a beautiful darkwood piano (what polish would i use to bring it back to full shine??) with a mark of 72626 on the metal frame. Does anyone know its age?

So age, polish and 3rd pedal mechanism are my questions here, thanks.

I can't comment on the polish. The middle pedal should lift a rail carrying a strip of felt in front of the hammers, so that the sound is softened. At the moment, all I can say is the date is after 1980, I'll see if I can find a more accurate date.

thanks for that - the lowest 2 keys have this on them:
473246 if that helps - i shall have a closer look to see if the post has come off the rail or if anything is actually broken.
thanks
