My grandma left me a small piano, it's a Bentley upright, serial number I think is 68369. It also has a patent application number on it 21430 if thats any help. had a look at the bentley serial numbers and it does not appear to be there. Shed some light on this please?

The number suggests 1950, but have a look at the Numbers link at pianogen.org

Books, a variety of "Piano Atlases" which probably all quote each other. I have also been able to confirm many Bentley number dates by looking inside the pianos. Have a look at the Datemarks link at pianogen.org

Take the fall off (the bit of casework covering the keys with the "Bentley" name on it) and then carefully lift out the bottom key. If you're uneasy about doing it, get your tuner to do it next time he visits.
Bentley's always wrote the exact date of completion on the side of the key in pencil.
No mystery!
