Zender upright

Post by Denyse »

Hi all, I'm new to the site and hope someone can help me in dating my little upright ZENDER piano. I live in Melbourne, Australia. The serial number on the back of the piano is 22358. My parents gave me the piano back in 1973 and I have cherished it ever since. I don't think it's very valuable or unique but it has kept incredible tune and has served me very well. My young daughter is now enjoying it as much as I did. I would appreciate any information as I can't seem to find any information of value on the internet about the Zender Piano. With Many Thanks

I obtained some information from Zenders, and 22358 suggests that it is before 1957, when their numbers were in the 26000 range, increasing by about a thousand per year, so possibly around 1953. See the Numbers link at piangen.org

Thank you Bill, I appreciate your efforts. 1953 or anywhere in the 50's for that matter, is older that I expected.
Somehow it makes it even more likable, although from what I read, pianos do not get better with age. Still, I love it.
Thanks again
Denyse :)
