R. Gors & Kallmann
Post by Auzzie Diane »
Hello
I have an (at least third hand) R. Gors & Kallmann upright piano made in Berlin with a code of 31561 stamped inside it. I have found the number represents pianos created between the years of 1901 and 1910. It has two brass foot pedals and the name is inlaid in brass under the key board cover. It appears to be a rose wood colour (underneath all the dirt) and has two small panels and one large panel in the front as you are sat on the stool looking at it. It has not been well looked after (and it breaks my heart to see this). It came to me from a friend who moved it from Sydney and she received it after it was received at a deceased estate clearout.
I have never owned a piano before and know nothing about this one. Can anybody help me find out the history behind it; type of wood; cost in having it french polished; tuned; value etc,. I do hope that this is not too much of an ask. Thank you for your help.

I can't tell you these things from here, you need to make enquiries locally about tuning and polishing, but don't spend on polishing until your tuner has checked that it can be tuned. Only then can you enquire locally about value. See the Valuation link at pianogen.org
