A. Bord Upright Piano

Post by nick_knack »

I am sure you must be pretty tired of this question by now, but I, and I am sure many others in here appreciate the people in the know taking the time to share their wisdom, thanks.

I have a A. Bord upright piano that I have to sell (moving interstate) and was just after it's age and a very ball park figure of what its worth if possible. I realise an evaluation is impossible but I am unsure if I should be asking $100 or $1000. What would an average one of these in working order fetch nowdays? It's serial number is 99975 (printed in two places) with "SCHWANDER" and 439552 imprinted on the frame of the hammers. Oak case, brass candle holders and handles, no inlay work as such. Fairly basic model I believe. Thanks for your help in advance. :D

Thanks for the useful confirmation - the Schwander number agrees with the Bord number that it was made around 1899. Although I am endlessly fascinated by Victorian pianos, they rarely fetch as much as ninety pounds here in the UK, I have no way of guessing about the States. Click the link below.
