Yamaha G series v C series

Post by David B »

How does something like a G2 stand up against the smaller C series? Are they of overall lower quality (I have read some bad reports on the net), or can they be quite good? :?

Depends how old.

There's no real difference in quality between a C and a G series piano, but there are several features missing (depending on market) from the G.

A late model G2 (serial number 4.5 to 5 million) is superior in all respects to a GH1, and GP1 of similar age, and better than a newer GA1 or GB1. It will also give a newer C1 or GC1 a run for its money. There are a lot of heavily used dogs out there though which can give the G series bad press, but in reality a similarly worn C series will be no better.
