Yamaha G series v C series
How does something like a G2 stand up against the smaller C series? Are they of overall lower quality (I have read some bad reports on the net), or can they be quite good?
Depends how old.
There's no real difference in quality between a C and a G series piano, but there are several features missing (depending on market) from the G.
A late model G2 (serial number 4.5 to 5 million) is superior in all respects to a GH1, and GP1 of similar age, and better than a newer GA1 or GB1. It will also give a newer C1 or GC1 a run for its money. There are a lot of heavily used dogs out there though which can give the G series bad press, but in reality a similarly worn C series will be no better.
