Yamaha piano

Post by Julia »

I find a Yamaha U1E with serial number 5832045, made in Japan. According to the serial number, it should be made in 1999. But from this forum in another topic group, somebody said Yamaha made lots of U models, and U1E was made between 1965-1970. Who can tell me in which year this piano was made? Thanks

Hi Julia

They did indeed make lots of variations on the U1 the model letters are only a guide and I would go by the SN Even Yamaha seem to have problems keeping up with models and numbers they are getting more complex to date than a Broadwood Grand

Have you tried Yamaha UK

Thanks for the reply. No luck with the UK web. When I keep searching for pianos, I realize that it is almost impossible to know the age of a Yamaha piano. I do find a Yamaha's website in Japan to determin the age. It is http://www.yamaha.co.jp/english/product ... s_num.html
It is not very accurate though.

This is a very helpful website. Thanks for the people who maintain it and answer questions.
