K. Hamburger in Wien

Post by Sorin »

Hi! My name is Sorin and I am trying to find more information about my piano. On the cover of the keys it's written "K. Hamburger in Wien" and info about 2 medals won (I don't no if the the piano or the manufacturer won them). Also inside the piano it's the same manufacturer, the number of the piano (I guess) - Nro.23 - and the year 1548 (is it possible that the piano is that old ?). I would be much obliged if you could offer me some historical data about this. Thanks.

"in Wien" means that he worked in Vienna. We have heard of Karl Hamburger, but have no access to Viennese archives, and no dates of serial numbers are available. Click on my website below, and look at the Exhibitions page. 1548 is just a number, a more likely serial number than 23. There were no pianos anywhere in 1548!
