Yamaha u2 information

Post by blondie »

Hi
We are looking at buying a secondhand piano and we have seen a yamaha u2 model.
We have also looked at secondhand u1's and u3's but the u2 sounds better to me.

They are all around the 30 to 35 year old mark.

On searching the net it seems that Yamaha still make the u1 and u3 but have discontinued the u2. It also seems that pre-1999 models of u1 and u3 are not as good as the newer models of u1 and u3.
This is what I have gleened on my searches.

I can't however find any concrete info on the u2.
Would anyone know how this piano rates in general as a piano and also compared to the u1 and u3, and would you know why the model was discontinued.?

Thanks in advance :)

The U2 is highly undesirable.

Only buy if it's very cheap indeed. Not that it's a bad piano, but bear in mind that it's hugely unpopular because most are ex-institution practice mules.

Thanks PG

The institutional mule and high price they are asking are a no no.

Cheers
