I'm on the brink of buying a new Bohemia 123 ("Exclusive") upright, and was wondering if anyone knew any pros/cons to this manufacturer, who don't seem to have cropped up on this forum so far (except for their grands)? Made in the same Czech town as Petrof I understand, though they have nothing to do with each other.
They sound good (on the mellow side but clear, with respectable bass) compared to other pianos I've tried at this price (£3,000-ish), and I like their action - the only real competitor is a Yamaha U1 circa 1972 (apparently good condition) for £1,800. Would like to try a new Yamaha P121, but there don't seem to be any around in London at the moment!
Was originally only looking to spend £2,000 but having tried around two dozen makes of (new) piano in this bracket, have had no luck finding anything that doesn't sound disappointingly tinny, brittle, jangly or muffled...
