Haessler and Zimmermann
General discussion about piano makes, problems with pianos, or just seeking advice.
Moderators: Feg, Gill the Piano, Melodytune
Haessler and Zimmermann
Does anyone have views on the quality of Haessler
and Zimmermann, the second-line pianos produced
by Bluthner and Bechstein? I'm looking for an upright
which is somewhat mellower than a Yamaha but doesn't
have an astronomical price tag!

Both OK, both mildly overpriced rather than stupidly astronomic like their brethren. Residuals are rubbish for the Zimmermann because they're not fondly remembered as former East German crap.
Schimmel's cheap Vogel is good value... Provided it's exactly that. Cheap. Don't pay list.
Get a second hand Yamaha SU series and have it expertly voiced. A Yamaha needn't be over-bright. That's a myth.
