No dates of serial numbers are available for Witton pianos, they are said to be "as Barratt & Robinson", but this only applies to more modern ones. David Witton was in business long before Barratt & Robinson, and became "Witton & Witton" in 1865, when they were at Regents Row, so your Hanover Street piano was made after 1870. I am curious to know what the almost-vertical white tapes do in the action, they look new, and are hooked over rusty wire rods. W&W produced pianos with the unusual combination of iron frame, trichord overstringing, oblong wrestpins, and overdamper sticker action - enough to make most tuners shudder at the prospect. See
