Knight Grand Piano

Post by tuna »

Hi, just wondering if anyone knew much about Knight grand pianos? As far as i know, Alfred Knight only made about 3 grands. Is this true?

No he made loads the new ones are made in Asia but at the moment are only on sale in the USA

This bit on their website is incorrect
"Later Mr. Knight merged with Welphdale Maxwell and Codd, the most prestigious piano manufacture in Great Britain"

Knights were sold to Bentleys by Mrs York and later Mr Grovner Sold the Bentley company to WMC there was no merger at all

Not as successful as their uprights IMHO....

Still a kind of barless construction, but an ungainly design in both appearance and tonality. Generally underpowered and false sounding.
