There are dealers up in Scotland that will match the price on the web on Yamaha's mainly on the uprights
As to Samick it is a piano that is not stocked as well in the UK as the USA the brand is not as well know in the UK as the US so you may find it quite hard to find a dealer that stocks both Yam and sam up in Scotland
As to try before you buy yes it is advisable However, with all the discounting going on over the net you probably can a find a better make and model that
you could just going to your local dealer if you really like a particular make and model and have found a dealer on the web that suits your purse then there is no reason why you should not go for it as most new pianos come with a 5 year guarantee and if you buy a well know make and have a local dealer who
is a main stockiest then under EEC law they have to fix any problems with that piano.
A tip with the discounters its not just the base price you need to look at, it's the extras like piano stools, first tuning, and the most expensive delivery some local dealers will give you all of the above free and that can be as much as £350 worth of goods some of the big net dealers will give the above at a push
