Franz Oeser.
I would be delighted to find some information about the age of my Boudoir Grand.
The casting is marked Praemiert 1887 Paris, which I assume is the date of an award and where the award was made, rather than being any indication of the age or place of manufacture.
The casting is also marked Franz Oeser KK priv.pianoforte fabrik. Both these marks are cast in the metal.
I suppose one can be confident from the KK that the piano was put together in Austria.
On the board below the strings is the number 6597.
I bought the piano in an auction sale in spite of its ghastly appearance because of the tone, and the fact that it was in tune. It holds its tune very well.
The piano had probably been used by a band, as it had been painted in gloss white paint over woodchip wallpaper over French polish scratched back to the wood to give a key . Above and below the soundboard and round the outside of the piano.
It took a month to clean up. It had been and is now black. Chris Bamforth.
